In many ways "Diamonds & Pearls" is simply another entry in the rather crowded genre of naked-girl-in-palace. The theme is absolutely everywhere: hard-core porn, soft-core T&A, and cliché "daring" fashion editorials. Marc Lagrange adds in some of his images done in alternative photo processes, but pretty much hewing to the thread. But overall, Lagrange hangs back away from the confrontational stuff we encounter in current non-porn nude. So in that way, the book is "safe." It is also "safe" in the sense that it's almost all white girls -- a couple of frames of non-white models, one of which is helpfully labeled "Black Flower." (Are we really NOT supposed to notice, in this era, the exclusivity of such a large collection?)In "Diamonds & Pearls," though, "safe" doesn't embrace "boring." In nearly every image, Lagrange and the model(s) portrayed make a connection. And the connection reaches right out of the image. There's immediacy, tension, that wonderful sense of a word about to be spoken or a gesture about to unfold. That connection is anything but universal in glamor shots and requires talent and timing in both the photographer and the model. That connection here lifts the suffocating blanket of cliché in which the book is wrapped, and makes almost every image a worthwhile and sexy meditation.

Marc Lagrange is one of the most prominent erotic photographers, and he does not disappoint in this collection. His books are very limited in print, and I would highly recommend getting this while the supplies last! The book is of fantastic quality, with high saturation prints that are rich and not overly shiny, and the photographs themselves are fantastically beautiful and melancholic in some angles. The juxtaposition of sexuality, emotion, and the raw passion of nudity is all represented in a dark setting, which amplifies not only the models, but the fact that desires can often be illuminated in dark settings through proper exposure (no pun intended). While the title suggests all glitter, the depth and breadth of the photographic talent Lagrange exudes is stunning. Highly recommended!

Buy it now while you can - gorgeous book, the photos and previews here do not do it justice. VERY large and very heavy book, EXTREMELY good printing quality, photos included in this are hauntingly beautiful and will definitely make this a valuable book in aftermarket trading once it's out of print.ALSO, it's a very heavy book, so the first copy I received was badly damaged in shipping, Amazon shipped a replacement right away and I have to give them excellent marks for replacing the damaged book so quickly.

These photos are routinely genuine and raw in nature. The compositional perspective alone is enough to WOW everybody.

I thoroughly enjoy this book. Opens up a world of possibilities. Has inspired me to create a whole new body of work.
